(More customer reviews)I started using it 2 years ago, and it works for me, all the nasty symptoms are gone completely. One time I stopped using for three weeks, and the night sweats, mood swigs. etc. came back with revenge! I resumed taking the Max. Strength Estroven, but for some reason it took really long time (a few months!) before the symptoms were gone again. I was happy using it, but now I started looking for something different. This supplement contains 400 mcg of folate, which recently was linked to increase incidence of the breast and other types of cancers: "Folate Supplementation Linked to Increased Cancer Incidence and Mortality" ([...]);
"Treatment With Folic Acid, Vitamin B12 Associated With Increased Risk of Cancer, Death" - [...]
Since 1998 the United States, have implemented mandatory folic acid fortification of flour and grain products, I wonder if we might actually overdose by taking an additional amount of folate with this supplement.
In addition, the results of recently completed Swedish study, which spanned 10 years and involved 35,329 women with an average age of about 61 years, are also alarming:
"We observed a 19% increased risk of breast cancer associated with multivitamin use after adjustment for other breast cancer risk factors," write the authors, led by Susanna Larsson, PhD.
"High doses of folic acid from supplements or fortified foods are of concern because synthetic folic acid is more bioavailable than folate from natural food sources and, hence, potentially more potent in promoting cancer growth," they write.
Not sure yet, what would be a safer bet, but probably look for something without a folate.
