(More customer reviews)This is one of the top money-making drugs of all time, and for good reason. It works. I used to have pretty bad acid reflux. I would chew Pepcid Complete (which is an antacid drug combined with a base to neutralize acid) after every meal, as if they were after-dinner mints. Now, I just take Prilosec once a day, and now I almost never suffer from heartburn, and when I do, it is not as bad as it used to be. Trust me on this. This drug works differently than Pepcid or Zantac (I have a Ph.D in biology), so if those drugs don't work for you, don't be afraid to give this a try.

I have acid reflux and after taking Prilosec and Nexium for 10 years, was able to stop taking the medication by chewing DGL 15 minutes before every meal, and sleeping on a wedge pillow. This was the best price I could find on the internet.

CONSIDER DGL FORM [WITHOUT Glycyrrhizin]:
If you are looking solely for relief from peptic ulcer symptoms and/or G.E.R.D., use DGL Licorice only, as it is safer and concentrates the factors that alleviate gastric symptoms such as indigestion and heartburn. Also in wafer form it is more effective as it combines with saliva to react positively in the gastric tract. [DGL Wafers]
DGL VS. CIMETIDINE:
Studies have shown that in comparison to "Cimetidine", the DGL wafers worked slower but effected more of a healing action against peptic ulcers. They used 1 DGL wafer before each meal in the clinical trials.
What is Glycyrrhizin?
It is what makes Licorice incredibly beneficial and potentially dangerous. In a nutshell, it can aggravate hypertension and edema. If you are looking for gastric tract relief, forget about Glycyrrhizin.
ABOUT BRANDS:
I have used "Now", "Swanson" and "Nature's Way" with roughly equal results. They all work, but the Swanson brand [when available - sometimes sold-out] usually costs less. I have used "Enzymatic Therapy" DGL and have used several of their other products as well. They are excellent, but usually cost a little more. (More customer reviews)prevacid does work well if you take the correct dosage. I took prevacid by prescription 30mgs and it work wonders on my reflux. Then I stopped taking it and it came back. Doctor put me on acipex, then my health insurance starting charging a 100 dolloar co pay. I started to take prevacid otc, but only took on pill 15mgs. the refux came back in a few days. I looked at the bottle and realized it was half of prescription strength and starting taking two pills. reflux improved after days and no problems since. its not unusual a drug that goes otc to have a lower dosage than when it was available by sript. so if it is not working for you, take two pills at once and you will be taking prescription strength dosage.

Zinc Carnosine (Pepzin Gi) 60 Caps Review

(More customer reviews)I took this product to help heal a chronic case of gastritis. After using it for two weeks, the pain (as well as other symptoms) are gone. I like to think I'm pretty sensitive to my body and (upon starting a regimen of zinc carnosine) could almost feel my system healing a little more each day.
The idea with this combination of Zinc is it coats and sticks to the stomach and duodenum, as well as the small intestine. While clinging to the upper GI, it has time to protect the stomach and intestinal linings, kill harmful bacteria (including H. Pylori), heal mucosa, and maybe even regrow tissue. Whatever the case, it's made me feel a ton better.
The dosage used to heal ulcers in a Japanese study is 75mg, twice a day. Swanson's recommended dosage is half that. The half dosage seems to be working for me and is closer to the USDA recommended amount of Zinc/day. I take 1 pill an hour before bed and 1 first thing in the morning. The Japanese study was 75mg. after lunch and 75mg. before bed, I believe.
This product is also the cheapest form of Zinc Carnosine I've been able to find and the patented Pepzin GI assures that you're getting the right combo of Zinc to Carnosine (the one patented in the US to match that used in the Japanese studies). Also, from what I've read, Swanson is a well established brand that uses 3rd party testing and is a member of consumer advocacy groups.
If you have an ulcer or gastritis or even bad reflux, this product may be the relief you're looking for. I'm not a medical professional...Just a guy who did some research to find an alternative cure for his gastritis. And Zinc Carnosine worked wonders for me. I wish I'd found it before the endoscopy or acid blockers or antibiotics or arrogant doctor who didn't have the time to answer my questions, but instead gave me some scripts and showed me the door...
