(More customer reviews)I'm a runner, work a 9:00 - 5:00 as well as go to school in the evenings and before FRS I was taking 5 Hour Energy right before a run. It worked well enough but it tastes like drinking the little soap bottles used for making bubbles. Luckily it's a shot and it served it's purpose. 5 Hour Energy for me made me feel almost too wired and I noticed an elevated heart rate that made me a bit nervous.
I chose FRS as an alternative because the price difference was about the same at the time, but I was wary after reading reviews that it simply didn't work and that it came in so many different forms, which was right for me. The can seemed to be the best, I could drink it before I head out to work, or before a run and get a little push to keep me active.
For me, there wasn't any noticeable "buzz" or need to bounce off the walls, it just keeps me alert, awake, and motivated to keep going. I think people expect that high caffeinated sugar buzz that they may get from energy drinks or coffee that just isn't present here. Also the taste of FRS to me is like a mild tea. It doesn't have a strong carbonated soda taste to it with a rough back end. It also has some (at least the 24 cans I've had thus far) particles in the bottom of the can, even if you shake it. I have not tried the other flavors or the other FRS products aside from the Low Calorie Wild Berry. The other forms of FRS may differ from my experience.
I really like FRS, and I actually look forward to drinking it when I get to work, like others do with coffee. My only problem is when I ordered my first shipment of FRS it was 28 dollars for 24 cans, and now the price has doubled and it just isn't reasonable to pay a little over 2 dollars a can for the product.

(More customer reviews)For all you "label freaks" like myself-Guru Lite is the best "energy drink" on the market (I just wish it was twice the size). The fact that it contains Stevia-over nasty sweeteners such as Aspartame or Splenda is a Huge plus (not counting all the other garbage thrown in those other drinks.) The taste is definitely an aquired one. But for a guy who was downing 3 Sugar free Monsters per day (and my liver enzyme count showed it)...Guru lite has been the perfect replacement...(and my enzymes are back down to normal!!) Let that be a warning to those of you energy drink junkies slamming down 2-3 drinks per day.
Overall-Guru Lite is a great product-and while I love the taste of regular Guru, I'll take the 10 calories and no sugar versus 100 calories and 25 grams with the regular.

I find that you do not need coffee as it does have a little caffeine in it and I do not need to have an afternoon snack.

(More customer reviews)I have fought with fatigue problems for years. Jacob Teitelbaum, a leading specialist in chronic fatigue treatment, did a controlled study that showed a significant improvement in patients energy level when taking this. (described in his book Fatigued to Fantastic)
I definitely feel an improvement. I tried some cheap versions of ribose and didn't feel it helped. You might want to try this one and then if you have good reasults try switching to something cheaper.
You only need a teaspoon or two a day, so although you don't get a large quantity for what your paying, you will not necessarily have to refill more often than every 1 1/2 to 2 months.
I also take Fatigued to Fantastic daily B complex and the daily energy enfusion. These are both products designed by Dr. Teitelbaum.

I wouldn't have gone near this with a ten foot pole had I not been behind a woman in scrubs purchasing some in a convenience store. I asked her if it worked, she was very favorable and her doctor/boss was positive about it as well. I went home, did more research, saw that the results ran the gamut, but I saw no one experiencing any severe side effects. I took the plunge.
I have Hashimoto's (hypothyroid) that is under control with medication, but I'd been recently finding myself extremely tired from early afternoon to the end of my work day (and beyond). I started out with half a bottle of 5-hour after lunch and am extremely happy with the result. It's not dramatic - it just gets me from "tired" to "not tired" for the afternoon and early evening. I've experienced none of the side effects that others have, but two things that I'm doing are (1) not drinking on an empty stomach, and (2) only using 1/2 bottle.
I'm by no means downplaying anyone else's experiences - we're all different, our bodies react differently to all sorts of things, but I would definitely recommend to anyone to give it a shot. Above all - listen to your body.

(More customer reviews)5-Hour Energy Drink actually does work. If I am exhausted, it does not make me feel great, but it will get me through. It creates enhanced alertness, also seems to have a positive effect on eyesight and helps with tired eyes. It does take most of the "awfulness" out of being overly tired, and can make it possible to do the things I still need to do if the day is not over, even if I wish it were. The first time you take it, everything may seem "brighter" for a few moments (light sources may seem to "pop" slightly more than normal). This passes, and it feels like you were able to take a 90-minute power nap. For me, it lasts a bit less than the full 5 hours, but it is a very welcome boost. There really is no crash for me when it wears off, as advertised, and it does not make me feel "wired", just more alert. Not bad for something that comes in a little bottle for a couple bucks. As with all good things, be sensible, and if you choose to try it, use in moderation. I do not and would not use this every day, but it is nice to know it is there when needed from time to time.

(More customer reviews)I first bought some of this back in the late 90s. I took it for a brief while and thought it wasn't working and threw it out. What I didn't realize is that Shou wu chih works slower than a lot of other Chinese herbal tonics. I eventually decided to give it one more try. The second time around I was consistant with taking it, 2 tablespoons in the morning and 2 in the evening before bed. That was the load up phase. The first thing I noticed was that I began to sleep deeper which gave me more energy in the daytime. Second, I noticed that I didn't get thirsty as much. Shou wu chih has astrigent qualities and contains the body's fluids. Third, I noticed my hair grew back a lot quicker after a haircut. Finally there are sexual benefits that I won't go into here...just that it was a very pleasant surprise. Shou wu chih(yin tonic) mixes well with Korean ginseng(yang tonic).
All these years later and I still take shou wu chih although I'm now down to just 3 tablespoons a day. I highly recommend it. Just add honey to sweeten it, then enjoy the benefits.
