Vital Basics / Focus Factor Focus Factor For Kids Review

Vital Basics / Focus Factor Focus Factor For Kids

My son, who is in 1st grade, has had a lot of trouble with school. He is not officially diagnosed with ADHD, but the checklists suggest it. To describe him, he has a ton of hyperactive and impulsive behaviors. He gets angry easily, especially during transition times. He reacts without any thought of consquences. He gets in really goofy moods, that are impossible to get him out of. He runs and jumps on furniture, always has to take physical risks, without fear of injury. I do not want to put my growing child on stimulants, so we are exhausting everything else first.
I have been a vitamin taker all my life. I have had him on b-complex, which I take for my nerves, but decided to give this a try. He has been taking it for a few weeks now and I just got a call from his school. Every time I see their number on my phone, I assume the worst. This however was a good report. He teacher said that he has been great for a whole week. He is making better choices and not acting up. Also that he demonstrates more self control.
You do not know how great this is! I was getting calls from the school about 2x a week, he was kicked out of an after school program and another parent suggested that she would call the authorities on me if my son ever touched her son again...so needless to say, it's been hard. Getting a good report really makes me happy.
I hope other parents who feel the same way about drugs, will read this review and give it a try!

I bought these pills for a friend that was having frequent panic attacks. I considered these because they are an herbal remedy and I believe in trying herbs first. After taking them for about a week he completely changed. The panic attacks stopped and he now take things in a more receptive way. Sometimes I am very surprised at how calm he is!! I just bought a second bottle. They are great!!

Our son is almost 12. We have tried medication for his ADHD with disastrous results. We have tried several kinds of natural treatments as well. We have spent years reading books and researching treatments on the internet. We have had the best results by far with Synaptol. Our son's grades have gone from C's, D's and F's to A's and B's. He is finally able to focus long enough to understand what the teachers are asking him to do. His moods seem much more even as well. All in all, he is much more pleasant to be around, and our home is peaceful for the first time in years! We've used this product for about a month now. Everyone's body chemistry is different, but for our son, this works the best of anything we have tried.

My 7 year old child is ADHD and this product has changed our lives. He is much calmer but still is full of life. This has taken the edge off the anxiety that my child experiences. He is able to deal with issues that would normally REALLY upset him. Highly recommened for mild cases of ADHD.

Attention Gels Review

Attention Gels

I purchased this product for my nephew who has ADHD. This product made him extremely aggessive and uncontrollable. I spoke with his doctor in reference to this matter and was informed that many children with ADD and ADHD, when taking some of the health supplements can make things worse instead of better. I must say I didn't know who this kid was with the behavioral changes nor did his teachers. Although he was always active now he was more than active, he became aggressive with emotional highs and lows. Once the pills were out of his system he was his normal active self. Be very careful if you chose this product. The changes happened after a week of taking "Attention". I will not make that mistake again. This product may work for some but I wouldn't promote it.

I took 2 tabs per day (the recommended dose) for 6 months, 3 tabs for 3 months and 4 tabs (double the recommended dose) for 2 months. It had no effect whatsoever. I'm switching to lithium aspartate and if that doesn't work either then I will try Trileptal, the anticonvulsant with the fewest side effects.

Liquid Health Attention Review

Liquid Health Attention
Average Reviews:

It does not taste bad at all. I have tried it as well. It is strong vitaminy taste as well as citrusy. I give it to my son in one of those 3 tbsp. shot cups that come with liquid tylenol and he shoots it down in one or two gulps, and he is five and he likes it. It has been 4 weeks and we are starting to see a difference. We are seeing a psychologist and she recommends this a long with a multi and dha/omega 3 fish oil from Nordic Naturals for Kids. There are psychologists out there that will help with non medical treatment.
I was told by a nutritionist to go back to "mother" mother earth. We have removed all dyes, preservatives and additives out of his diet and "fake" sugars and high fructose corn syrup. We are promoting the greens and veggies by puree and placing them into his food so he could build his palate for veggies as well as getting him to eat them by telling him about the brain power they provide. This is all I can do now. We tried ritalin and it made him more hyper (even with the lowest dose) and he was whiney and shaking. Poor baby. I was told by the doc that our son will grow out of it soon, with natural remedies and therapy and that when the testosterone kicks in it is the bodies "natural ritalin". I have to think positive and keep my son off the pharmaceuticals and keep up the nutrition, nurturing and behavior modification and positive reinforcement.

Adderllin Review

Adderllin
Average Reviews:

I've tried adderall XRs and IRs for a long time now and here's whats up. There is still the giddy loving feeling you get when you take IRs and the focus is just like both adderall types. It gives enough focus to get the job done without being overbearing. In my opinion, adderall closes the 1000's of pipelines of thought channels and leaves you with one channel of focus, which can be very intense. Adderllin does the same thing but has more of a balanced focus. If adderall gives you social anxiety, this supplement may be better for you because it is definitely more comfortable to carry on a conversation. I'd use it as an alternative to adderall any day and highly recommend it to anyone.

VAXA Homeopathic Medicinal Attend, Support for Attention Difficulties, Capsules, 60-Count Bottle Review

VAXA Homeopathic Medicinal Attend, Support for Attention Difficulties, Capsules, 60-Count Bottle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
So the net/net is yes, I started seeing a difference at the end of the second month. We started on the strategy pack. The Extress for the husband and son. The Memorin for myself and our son.
I started my 14 year old son, in January, with the Attend product. We (I) have been avoiding using ADHD meds consistently over the past 5 years because, of their side effects and long term risks. Our family GP and I started experimenting with different ADHD medication (there are dozens on the market) he was in the 4th grade. His current teachers were adamant that his behavior was intolerant to their classes and his quality of work was not what he was capable of.
He's a good kid, never in any serious trouble, just the usual "looking for attention" behavior. He's kind of a leader and the proverbial class clown. He is a funny guy, if you're not trying to teach a class of high school students. Is this what every comedian's mother has had to deal with? He is generally popular with his peers, but slightly immature for his age. As parents, we were so tired of our 9 years, quarterly trips, up to meet the teachers routine. It was always the same "buckle down, you can do it" speech. It would work for a month or so.
Why are so many millions of kids screaming in need for ADHD meds? Hmm, this is not a good thing for our society and it truly mostly our society. So after a year of research and purchasing a lot of books, talking to counselors, and physicians, ((I've spent a mini fortune, but I (you) need to know)) the general conclusion to all these books and consultations, it came down to diet, sleep and exercise.
So our family GP said give the Attend product a try, you're probably wasting your money. Ah-ha, not if it money back guaranteed, right? What pharmaceutical company offers that? He just smiled at me.
We kept him on his ADHD meds, for his teacher's sanity, my son's and ours. Being a teenage boy, he wasn't happy about me chasing him down to take bi-daily supplements. Being a teenage boy, he wasn't happy about me taking away pre-packaged and boxed foods (yes, all the boxed foods, including his favorite cereals and cookies, I did it slowly, I'm not cruel, he was addicted.) Being a teenage boy, he wasn't happy about going to bed starting around 9pm. He is OK as far as the exercise part though, because when you hyper-active you need something to do and your usually in a lot of activities.
As I said, I couldn't get much in him, 1 capsule in the AM and 1 capsule in the PM. 4 months later he's now on board and he takes and array of supplements, including essential 2 - Omega 3's 1000 mg. each, 1 AM B-Complex 5000mcg, 60 mg. CoQ2 Enzymes, and Whole Foods: Super Multi (that includes calcium/magnesium, extremely important.)
I didn't know anything about homeopathic medicines or nutritional supplements last year at this time. Vaxa's Attend, Memorin and Extress are all natural with positively and absolutely no side effects. If there any gastro problems, it's going to be our (your) dietary choices. No weight gain can come from a B-complex, enzymes and homeopathic remedies, as someone's doctor suggested in an early review.
ADHD/Memory/Stress in internal imbalance. The "Brain" needs Omega's 3-6-9 and quality B-Complex to function properly. The enzymes merely help digest and process the foods our body is being given. The homeopathic component is for calming and focusing, all really good stuff and expensive if you bought it all individually.
We've reduced our son's ADHD meds from 40mg to 20mg. He's got finals coming up over the next few weeks and I'm not willing to let him fly cold turkey. This summer I'll be able to supervise this whole process more closely. I'm sure he still not making the best food choice at school (yes, I even tried making his lunch again, we digressed on that issue.) The ultimate goal is to get him off ADHD meds. Our family physician is curiously watching and would love to see the same results we all wish for.
...It's not a 1 pill wonder like our society wants, it was lifestyle change. Our family won't go back to our old lifestyle of convenient boxed or packaged foods, we eat whole foods now. We go to bed early and we walk/exercise everyday.
Good luck... after reading all that I've read, I hope this helps you on your journey to find the right answers for you and your child, it is not the mass-marketed answers.

Schiff Knock-Out Melatonin with Theanine & Valerian, KAVA Free, Tablets , 50 tablets Review

Schiff Knock-Out Melatonin with Theanine and Valerian, KAVA Free, Tablets , 50 tablets
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In summer of 2007 Schiff changed the formula of this product to become Kava Kava free, and replaced it with Theanine (calming agent in green tea). I guess most places are jumping ship on Kava Kava because of the bad press it received in Europe.
I presumed since Amazon showed the image, and listed the product as still being the Kava Kava version, I would get that (leftover stock?). However you will receive the new updated Kava free product instead.
The actual product works great, I've previously used melatonin by itself and was not able to fully fall asleep (too many thoughts running through my head, etc), this stuff seems to help out with that, and made flying a series of redeye flights not all that bad.
I would give it 5 stars, however you get a different product then Amazon shows, and it is a bit pricey for just 50 pills.

Native Remedies Focus Formula And Brightspark Combopack (two Of Each), 0.4 Units Review

Native Remedies Focus Formula And Brightspark Combopack (two Of Each), 0.4 Units
Average Reviews:

There is a huge misconception that just because an item is herbal or "natural" that it is safe. That is just not true! If you've ever heard of the amazon jungle then you should know nature can kill you in a New York minute. Stating that let me go over the ingredients of this product.
Ginko Biloba
Ginkgo side effects and cautions include: possible increased risk of bleeding, gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, dizziness, heart palpitations, and restlessness
Skull Cap
There are a number of potential side effects with skullcap that you should report to your healthcare provider and which may indicate that you should stop taking the supplement. TThese include, but are not limited to:

* Severe drowsiness
* Confusion or mental slowing
* Giddiness
* Stupor (a severely dulled, almost unresponsive mental state)
* Seizures
* An irregular pulse
* Signs of liver damage, such as yellow eyes or skin (jaundice), upper right abdominal pain, or elevated liver enzymes (found using a blood test)
* Signs of an allergic reaction, such as a rash, hives, itching, swelling of the mouth or throat, wheezing, or difficulty breathing.
On a special note, this used to be used by Native Americans to promote menstruation in girls/women. Take this herb for long periods could promote early puberty in girls.Gotu Cola
There is concern that gotu kola might cause liver damage in some people. It can also cause other side effects including stomach upset, nausea, and itching. Too much gotu kola might also cause drowsiness.
Annual Nettle
nettle may affect the blood's ability to clot
nettle may lower blood pressure
nettle can act as a diuretic,
nettle may lower blood sugar
Avena Sativa
Decrease erectile dysfunction
Male aphrodisiac
increase sexual libido
Avena sativa taken by boys for a long period may result in early puberty.
Rooibus
Has not been tested on humans to determine side effects.
Overall, this "mood enhancer" is really a sedative laced with sexual stimulants for males and females.
Do not let the [...] website fool you. They only accept positive testimonials on their website and why would a business like to disclose that these plants have side effects, they are not required to. The DHEA law states that manufacturer is responsible for determining the safety of their products not the FDA. So even if the product is registered with the FDA it did not go through the thorough testing that standard medications must go through. The long term effects of this product are not determined and by the time you may see a side effect it will be long past the statute of limitations and their disclaimers will protect them legally. All natural and chemical remedies have long term effects on the kidneys, liver and heart. As they are all toxins not normally digested and must be cleansed from the blood.
I strongly believe that any positive results have more of a placebo effect than anything else. Rather than giving some unstudied herbal concoction why not get flintstone vitamins put them in a pretty bottle and say that these are magic vitamins that will make you do better in school. You will probably have the same effect without the added cost and one daily vitamin is recommended by most pediatricians. I also believe that no herbal supplements should be given to a child with out a clinical diagnosis for ADD/ADHD and the approval of your child's pediatrician.
Since most of the comments on these remedies seem to be female let me just say that there are no genies in bottles and magazines to solve behavoiral issues in children or to make you lose weight or anything else in between. Children are hard work and require constant diligence. Stop looking for magic cures because you might be doing more harm than good.

This product does work. My son was diagnosed with mild ADHD and the doctor suggested that we put him on medication. I am fearful of the many side effects that this medication has and sought a natural approach. My son has been taking these supplements for about 2 months and I really see a difference. Not only do I see a difference, but others who know him have commented that he seems more focused and less high strung. He actually sits through an entire meal and eats. I feel that this is the way to go for us.

Okay so I was convinced throughout my whole life that I have had A.D.D. My brother had ADHD and was diagnosed at a young age, but I never wanted to be "diagnosed" with it and take the prescription medicine adorol or riddlin for it. I have always had problems paying attention to spoken words, I could never listen to a song all the way through without drifting off, when I start to read something it used to take me awhile to get into it, and I used to have very little days that I would say were my "on" days. Since I've taken this product for about a month now every day is my "on" day and I'm still highly impressed with this product. I didn't give it a 5 out of 5 because I haven't used it long enough to say that it is truly a PERFECT product, however, if you honestly do have A.D.D. and want to stay away from prescription drugs that can harm your overall health, this is definitely the way to go!

Does a great job at helping me deal with stress. When I take it on a normal basis, it improves my hormonal balance and greatly decreases my anxiety level. It's a wonderful natural alternative to prescription drugs (some people have told me that theanine was actually MORE effective than the drugs for them), I have had NO side effects from it, and Amazon sells it at a very reasonable price. Most of the other people in my household take it and it helps them as well.

Nutrient Carriers Advance Research™ Lithium Orotate -- 120 mg - 200 Tablets Review

Nutrient Carriers Advance Researchandtrade; Lithium Orotate -- 120 mg - 200 Tablets
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been using lithium orotate for a short time and have already stabilized my depression and mood swings more than any other time except when I first starting taking SAM-e about 6 years ago.
The problem I encountered with SAM-e is that my digestive system didn't tolerate it well, so I couldn't take the doses I needed to alleviate my bipolar symptoms (1200-2000 mg/day). I also noticed the same tendency other SAM-e users have had, which is to have the effectiveness of SAM-e decrease over time, necessitating higher doses to get the same effect. St. John's Wort doesn't work well for my Bipolarity because, although it alleviates my depression and gives me a sense of well being, it tends to push me into mania and panic attacks. Again, this is a common reaction to St. John's Wort among bipolar sufferers.
Lithium Orotate has already proven to be so effective for my bipolar disorder that I find myself calling people I haven't talked to in a long time, launching new projects that I have been procrastinating on, spending more quality time with our many companion animals, getting MUCH less up-tight about traffic problems (which used to be my number 1 anger producer) - in general, making me calmer and more interested in and enthusiastic about life, the result of alleviating my chronic depression without pushing me to the other polarity and making me manic.
There is an excellent article on lithium treatment for bipolar disorder in the 9/17/03 issue of the Journal of the AMA (one of the most respected sources of conventional medical information),
"Suicide Risk and Treatments for Patients With Bipolar Disorder'. Other sources indicate that lithium orotate is more efficiently absorbed than prescription lithium (lithium carbonate). It is also effective in alcoholism treatment. I know from being a recovered alcoholic that this makes sense since a number of health care practitioners believe there is a link between bipolar disorder and chemical dependency.
So I would recommend lithium orotate, but with a BIG caution:
First - I haven't used this particular brand. I'm here because I'm shopping for a cheaper alternative to the brand I started with ("Serenity"), so I can't attest to the efficacy of this brand.
Second - I have an extensive health care library, have done massive amounts of research, have seen a psychiatrist and a physician, and have started out with very low doses and gradually increased the dosage as I've detected no adverse effects. Treating mood disorders is a dicey proposition, even for professionals, since brain chemistry isn't well understood and can be tipped into a state worse than what you started with, particularly with a condition like bipolar that can't be treated with SSRI's because they often produce manic conditions. So:
- be aware that what you're taking is just a different form of lithium than what is otherwise available only by prescription, and carries some of the same risks as taking prescription lithium. As best I can tell, the only reason that lithium orotate is available as an over-the-counter dietary supplement and not as a prescription-only drug is that it hasn't been approved as a prescribable drug by the FDA.
- do your homework before trying this or any mood altering substance. There are many good sources available on the web. If you're suffering from chronic depression rather than bipolar disorder, there are probably better supplements to take than this, such as St. John's Wort, but don't take my word or any other amateur's word on this. Your mental health is at stake! So become as knowledgeable as you can about this before trying anything.
- start very slowly and cautiously and only increase your dosage after a period of time without adverse effects
- everyone's brain chemistry is unique, so don't expect something that works in a certain way for one person to necessarily work the same way for you
- know what you're taking and any possible reactions with other substances you're taking - Rx, over the counter, and street drugs, and supplements
- in any case, consult someone knowledgeable! Most doctors aren't particularly knowledgeable about brain chemistry, so they are rarely the best source. There is just too much to know about the human body to expect any one doctor to be the ultimate source on everything. So talk to a specialist - conventional or complementary, such as a psychiatrist, psychologist, therapist, holistic MD - someone who is knowledgeable about complementary therapies to mood disorders such as using lithium orotate for bipolar disorder.
I know how difficult living with a mood disorder is, so I wish you the best of moods and the happiest of lives!
